Indian govt bans Chinese apps: Is PUBG Mobile banned?

The government of India has decided to ban 59 Chinese apps in India. We take a look at all the apps that are going to be banned in India and the outcome of PUBG Mobile.

According to the new Report, The third round of the Chinese app ban was declared by the Indian government, with 43 new names on the list. In total, there were 220 Chinese applications banned in India in 2020. This involves some very popular games and applications such as TikTok, ShareIt, AliExpress, PUBG Mobile, and more.

Recently China attacked Indian troops in the Galwan valley region. Due to which, 20 Indian soldiers and 45 Chinese soldiers died. Taking in mind this, the Indian government decided to boycott Chinese products and produce their own product locally.

The rising tension with China, the Indian government has banned 59 apps, including few games, from the country. This has led to players of the most famous mobile game, PUBG Mobile, worrying if their favorite game has also banned in their country.

Is PUBG Mobile banned in India?

Pubg Players and fans need not worry, as PUBG Mobile has not been banned in India. The decision was taken by the Ministry of Electronics and Information and Technology (MEITY), where they announced the following:

The announcement by MEITY:-

The collection of the data, it's mining, and profiling by the elements hostile to national security and defense of India, which ultimately impinge upon the sovereignty and integrity of India, is a matter of very deep and immediate concern that requires the emergency measures.

They further decided to add:-

On the basis of these and upon receiving recent conclusive inputs that such Apps posture threat to sovereignty and integrity of India, the Government of India has decided to disallow the usage of certain Apps, used in both mobile and non-mobile Internet-enabled devices. This step will safeguard the interests of crores of Indian mobile and internet users. This decision is a targeted step to ensure the safety and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace.

The two Chinese games that are banned in India are Clash of Kings and Mobile Legends. Mobile Legends games have over 100 million downloads, with a rating of 4.2+ stars, on Google Play Store.

On the other side, the Clash of Kings had achieved 50 million+ downloads and 4.1 stars on the same app. Some of the most popular apps that are also banned are TikTok, WeChat, and UC Browser.
